My net worth has jumped that I admit. But in reality I feel poorer due to the high cost of living. And I do know if I feel it, others face the same issues also. I disagree that the tax rates are low. You haven't considered in the fact that GST is also a tax! And when the next elections roll around, after the elections, the chances of a GST increase is there. T suggested that there would be no increase in GST until after the last election and that was in 2011, thus that does not mean from 2016, onwards they cannot increase GST.

The last I read, an average household income is now I think 10k a month. That means if they are spending everything, they pay roughly about 1k in GST taxes alone lor, which is very high.

The GST to me is unfair tax really. But when you live in Rome, pay as the Romans pay.

Bro, what talking you? if you do a check, almost all 1st world nations have higher GST/VAT than Singapore ... Except Hong Kong, Brunei, UAE, etc. which are zero rated.

However, I believe things like life insurance (non-investment link), medicine, education (up to tertiary level - basic degree), etc. should be zero rated.
