LRT service disrupted along Punggol line due to power fault

SINGAPORE: Light Rail Transit (LRT) services were disrupted on the Punggol line for about an hour due to a power fault, transport provider SBS Transit said on Wednesday (Jun 22).

SBS Transit announced the disruption on Twitter at about 5.50pm on Wednesday evening. Free bus services and bus bridging services are available, it added. The operator later tweeted an update saying that full service has resumed on Punggol LRT.

A video sent by Channel NewsAsia viewer Naseem Fathima showed passengers being detrained from an LRT carriage that appeared to be stuck on the tracks.

Commuter Koh Beng Huat, who was on board the stalled train, told Channel NewsAsia that the lights and ventilation in the carriage stopped working before it came to a halt.

"There was an announcement (saying) the train service would be delayed for five minutes," said Mr Koh, who boarded the train at about 5.20pm from Sam Kee station towards Punggol station.

He said passengers were stuck on board the train for about 10 to 15 minutes before staff members came to their help.

Residents grounded as lifts at Dover lose power

RESIDENTS returning home to Block 28B in Dover Crescent during lunch yesterday were left helpless when all four lifts serving their 40-storey Housing Board block lost power for close to an hour.

While some waited for the lift service to be restored, others resorted to climbing the stairs.

Jess Thia, who is in her 40s, said she was coming back from lunch at around 12.30pm when she noticed all the lifts were out of action.

Ms Thia, who is self-employed, said many who were affected by the lift stoppage were elderly residents and housewives.

Two of the block's four lifts serve units from the first floor to the 21st floor while the other two serve the first and 22nd to 40th.

CNB warns of callers who impersonate its officers and ask for money

SINGAPORE - If you receive a phone call or WhatsApp message from someone claiming to be from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), who first says that you "have cases with CNB" and later asks you for money, take heed: It's either a prank or a scam.

In a statement on Tuesday (June 22), CNB highlighted such reported incidents and that it will be working with the police to investigate them.

CNB said that its officers are not allowed to request for any favours in money or in kind, nor to threaten any person to provide monetary favours in order to facilitate a case.

Yes. I was tempted to because the first girl looks better. The other bro has good taste.
