Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Carew urges Riise to join Villans
Mon 15 Oct, 10:30 AM John Carew has told his Norway team-mate John Arne Riise to get away from Liverpool's persistent squad rotation and join him at Aston Villa.Riise has been in and out of Rafael Benitez' side recently, falling behind Alvaro Arbeloa in the pecking order at left-back and failing to secure a regular starting role on the wing. Martin O'Neill is thought to be a long-term admirer of Riise and Carew has urged the 27-year-old to jump at the chance of a move to Villa Park should O'Neill firm up his interest with a bid in January. "It seems like John Arne wants to go, so I can't see why not?" Carew told Dagbladet. "There is a possibility. "He would fit in very well at Villa, so that would be a positive." Looks like we're gonna have some leavers cometh dis january...... Crouchie wanna team up with Sven Goran Erection if he cannot get the games he wants. Now J A Riise gets tempted by AV.... wonder who's next? |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
My opinions ...
Riise is a good good left def/mid player in liverpool... at his age now, he will reach his peak and he surely be thinking (i would if im him) that if ever im leaving the mighty reds, i surely would want to play (along or in the same team) with the other big boys in the world like madrid, barca, milan, inter, man utd, arsnal... not by going to villa whos not even in the REAL LEAGUE(champleague) (sorry to villa fans ya) and for the past 2 or maybe 3 seasons ago, he played a hell lot of games.. a few games on the bench wont make his love with the mighty reds lesser.. Villa for Riise. If he goes then it shows he has no ambition other than just playing first team soccer.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
The winner came after Steven Gerrard was substituted for Brazilian Lucas Leiva – a decision which may have raised one or two eyebrows.
Benitez explained: "We weren't keeping the ball very well and were in too much of a hurry sometimes with our final pass. "I put Lucas on because he is a very good player who can pass the ball well for us. "In the end, Lucas helped us win the game by having the shot that led to our winning penalty." Own up Rafa, you gambled Poor Neville, would be a hero if Howard managed to save the spot kick. Glad that the bragging rights are now back to the Red Merseyside. |

1) it took real balls to drop Gerrard 2) it was a gamble that swung the result favourably So, in view of the bragging rights & more, what's there to complain?? I'm more concerned with the return of Agger & Alonso ... the sooner the better. Hyypia seems to be under a lot of self-inflicted pressure to perform ... while Sissoko still cannot make a 20m pass correctly with his eyes closed. We need to win in Turkey on Tue ... else this great derby win will still not be enough to turn the corner.

But I really hope we get another centre back. Hyppia will cost us if he keeps playing the way he does.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Precisely, and I'm absolutely sure that Gerrard already knew that he would be subbed at some point...See how he was smiling even when momo missed that blinder? It's the friggin press and media who make stories up...And I'm sure Rafa was just playing with their balls by saying what the press wants to hear.
Of cos, I thought that Lucas made a very good league debut, especially in a derby match... May we see more of him... This brazilian U-21 captain seems like he has lots of composure and has an eye for good passes. Anyone noticed how after Lucas came in for Gerrard, we seemed more in control and pinned the the small team in their own half?
