was watching the news the other day. It reported that when the chinese zodiac was adapted in vietnam damm long time back ago, the rabbit was translated wrongly to become cat . Even after that when they realised its translated wrongly from chinese, they just accepted it stating that if there's mouse , there should be cat.

I watched Youtube & found out that actually Hinduism & Hindus Gods cant be spread & preach in Vietnam because of the mountainous terrain between Cambodia & Laos. They cant cross over.

Sorry got to Disagree on your statement .... China ruled Vietnam for a few centuries does not mean they are related in 'everyway' ... 1 thing for sure, language is already a big difference .... 2nd Name is also a very big difference ... 3rd The way they eat already a big difference ...

I can said they have some similarities .... Religions partly are similar ....

Then what about France, they also ruled Vietnam for a few centuries .... Thats why they have christain and catholic ....

Here is the history of Vietnam.

By far Vietnam's most important historical international relationship has been with China. Vietnam's prehistory includes a legend about a kingdom known as Van Lang (2787–2858 BC) that included what is now China's Guangxi Autonomous Region and Guangdong province, as well as the northern part of Vietnam.

Later, successive dynasties based in China ruled Vietnam directly for most of the period from 207 BC until 938 when Vietnam regained its independence.

Vietnam remained a tributary state to its larger neighbor China for much of its history but repelled invasions by the Chinese as well as three invasions by the Mongols between 1255 and 1285.

Emperor Trần Nhân Tông later diplomatically submitted Vietnam to a tributary of the Yuan China to avoid further conflicts and remained so until it was colonized by France in the middle to late 19th century.

During World War II, Imperial Japan expelled the French to occupy Vietnam, though they retained French administrators during their occupation. After the war, France attempted to re-establish its colonial rule but ultimately failed in the First Indochina War. The Geneva Accords partitioned the country in two with a promise of democratic election to reunite the country.

However, rather than peaceful reunification, partition led to the Vietnam War. During this time, the People's Republic of China and the Soviet Union supported the North while the United States supported the South. After millions of Vietnamese deaths, the war ended with the fall of Saigon to the North in April 1975.

Alexandre de Rhodes, a French missionary, adapts Roman alphabet to transcribe Vietnamese language which use Chinese characters in 1627 but was not successful until 1920s when there was a widespread adoption of Roman alphabet to replace Chinese characters. It's the same as Korea. It's very difficult not to be influenced by your giant neighbour. Vietnam is very lucky not to be part of China, like inner Mongolia, Manchuria and Tibet.

Vietnam got a very messy messy history ..... i compile until headache ....

the most closest to China cultures, I would say is the ancient Hue, rest not much similarities ...

Bro shysaint, I totally understand what you say. Maybe im not good at words & expressing. I meant the main influences in ancient time. Modern times dont say. Even satanism can spread to vn.

I watched this documentary about the history of Cambodia & it narrates abit of vn in it.

I know there are hindu temples & mosques in vn.
