Anybody successfully married a China PRC girl in China?

I understand that the marriage must be at least 5 years for an eligibility to apply for a Chinese 'green card'.

Has anybody here married a PRC Girl in China and is currently working and living in China?

If yes, may I know how are you coping. Thanks!

not at the moment. but he should be saving up in the meantime to setup small biz in china as he can count on his father in law or china relatives to pull strings. His wife owns a few biz before in the past only to close down due to gambling.

To do biz in China with no connections is only waiting to be cheated of everything.

bro,

Got connections also can be cheated!!

I have a few friends (Singaporean and Angmos) who have married PRCs. The usual marriage problems + cultural differences which places additional stress on the marriage.

Good luck to them!

Is this supposed to be good? Brother, proceed with caution. Anyone who loses a business due to gambling has a serious gambling problem.

Foreword: No offend to your post or your friend. Just a friendly advice as a fellow bro here.

Don't put all eggs into 1 basket. Save some of his money for emergency

As I do not know what level of guanxi your friend's in law is at...IMHO, pull strings can only minimizes the risk and should only serve as part of the business strategy, he must be hands-on involvement with the business, especially when the wife's family members are involved, it will complicate matters when the business is making money.

Note: Everyone will claim to have guanxi or can pull string in China. Just don't fall on soft-ears and do homework to justify the claim. Good luck to your friend

Re: Anybody successfully married a China PRC girl in China?

Yeah, I would agreed that having the right, powerful Guanxi do help in business, and at the right time and location too. Government Officials get posted away every now and then, so the current Guanxi may not be useful for any future business dealings, do take note of this!

My current Company's Business in PRC requires lots of Guanxi to get things right, done and with the right price. We always try to get to the top to influence down, but u may need to buy your way thru all levels from bottom up or top down as a 'small' official may delay or derail your plans if you ignored his/her request.

But modern PRC have formulated many rules and regulations, all clearly spelled out, but individuals interprete the wordings differently, therefore the outcome from each individual is different - meaning different official got different rules (sometimes).

Just my limited knowledge about doing Business in PRC - still learning and in my infant stage.

All the best to TS in his marriage and business!

Re: Anybody successfully married a China PRC girl in China?

Even with connections, you must be street smart, otherwise also cheated of everything by your close ones

A lot of times, your so-called relatives, in-laws will help you to rent shop, buy goods etc and said that's the actual price. In reality, the price you pay could be 200% of the actual price.

Re: Anybody successfully married a China PRC girl in China?

Totally agree with Bro Samsam.. guanxi only gets u that far, up to a certain extent. More importantly, it is how u deal with the people (your business partners, your workers etc), the nature of your business as well as outwitting them and thinking before they act (i.e to be streetsmart as well as business smart) that really matters

In fact, there are so many SG peeps in China who does not really require any forms or means of guanxi to achieve or obtain their objectives. Like what has been mentioned by the rest of the fellow bros earlier, many parts in China are starting to come up with rules, regulations and stipulations and it is no longer that simple or easy to manoeuvre and "bribe" your way through... and it is really true that laws n regulations are subjected to each individual's interpretations.. so no hard and fast rules. Just find a common ground and understanding, build some relationships n teambuilding, share some ventures where everyone stands to gain to some extent... and protect/ hedge your interests/stake in the mean time... and u will have a long way to go
