i thought the rule says no selling of alcoholic drinks after 10:30pm, not one say cannot drink alcoholic drinks after 10:30pm.

because i saw some coffee shop tell customer if want to buy beer buy before 10:30pm, so most of the uncle will buy few bottles of beer before 1030pm and put on their table and chitchat with friends, then they slowly drink at the coffee shop till late night.

not sure which is correct, i may be wrong too.

you go to pubs and eateries...they will tell you to clear all your drinks before 1030pm, otherwise they clear for you.

A public place is defined as a place which the public may freely access even if such access requires a fee or can be restricted from time to time. These include void decks, road decks and parks but do not include restaurants or pubs.

The Liquor (Supply and Consumption) Act prohibits consumption of alcohol in such public places and the sale of alcohol from retail outlets between 10.30pm and 7am.

Certain areas including Little India and Geylang Serai are specified as Liquor Control Zones and are restricted even more.

Persons that are caught consuming alcohol in these areas will be penalised increasingly by up to 1.5 times. If you are found to be drunk and incapable of taking care of yourself, you may be fined up to $1,000 and/or jailed for up to 1 month.

Normally it is clear the drinks on the table before 10.30 pm. If there is a spot check, the coffeeshop will find it hard to prove they did not sell the drinks after 10.30 pm. I had friends drinking at hawker centre being told to clear off their drinks after 10.30 pm. Some NEA enforcement guy. He bought his drinks at 10.20 pm. He cannot finish so they pour away his beer.
