Different places different pricing. Was quoted 1 million to 1.5 million in CJ and bats. They are some gems but not easy to spot.
Always haggle with the chickens and never accept what they initially quote. If they still haven't found business by closing time, expect to see their prices drop to around half.
It's a bit more difficult at Alexis or Malioboro as the prices are fixed but at least you can pay with your credit card and the best thing is that the f**king part will show up on your credit card statement as some expensive vintage white wine. LOL!

Jakarta is not know for backpacking, as far as I know

Thanks bro cooldoe ... I didn't know what I was talking about . I did some more research, and find out that the backpacking area in Jakarta is every small, and most people recommend not to stay here. I'll stay in either Spark hotel, or Novotel hotel.
I plan to do the usual tourist stuffs, and go see the national monument, museum, mosque, and save 1 day for the mini Indonesia park. Then, I'll flight to Yogyakarta for 2 day, 1 night to tour as well. I plan to hire a car & driver and have them drive me around. Any recommend in reliable car rental company there?

even cheaper locals available at 600k but can choose only on computer and afaik these girls don't go with you in the jacuzzi. i like the small open air pool there

agree. i tried fave hotel during my last trip. very good budget hotel. the one in pasar baru is pretty close to classic and not too far from malio. good option to explore north jakarta
Should try emporium at pecenongan. Economic version of alexis. Dc around 1 million for local. taking a bath + FJ.
Should check out their dancer too at tease club. Can get FJ with them for 1.8 million. My friend is patient enough to wait until they are done with work. The dancer is going home with him for 1.5 million.....

I paid around S$68 per night for a room.
Malioboro is within walking distance and so to is illegals for all you clubbers out there. Also, for those of you who can stomach public transport , there is a Transjakarta bus stop (Sawah Besar) just outside the hotel.

I am also, along with couple of my buddies booked the grand mercure jakarta harmoni hotel from 21 February - 24 February , hope the damn floods are done by that time !
