Why not do it this way,
Instead of asking the taxi driver to quote the price,
We tell him the destination and amount we will pay.
"Bang, harbourbay 20ribu"
If he is ok, just take,
If not ok, or he try to up the amount,
Just tell him, "tak ada lagi" and don't bother him anymore.
That is what I always did.

there is the issue of safety also....so far nothing bad.
once settle price, usually ok....just pay when reach destination.
but just to recount bad exp last week.....we take unlicensed car from nagoya hill to harbourbay.....my buddy think worth 20k....bargain n this chap say ok.....before hop on confirm with him...he nod....reach there pay 20k...he make noise n say 30k!!!

That is why better to take licensed ones if you are not familiar with Batam. Or at least travel in a group. A few men together, the driver dare not do much, within the city area.

If go else where where they say"cari kampong cewek muda".... Better not. Even I myself seldom step into their kampong, unless on business issues, and I have my worker with me to go too.

So for brothers who are not familiar and lagi worse, no bahasa, better be safe than sorry.

another time is close call.....going to btm centre.....
half way the driver suddenly stop by busy roadside after receiving call....i tot die liao.....(he want to rob us???) he say alot of things....in the end we finally understood he say tyre punctured....want us to get out.
ok.....pay half the amt n get out.
then he immediately drove off.....where got tyre punctured????
my buddy say most likely he got another "fat robert" booking.
lucky we managed to flag down another car to continue our journey.

so if like me scaredy cat, i won't go alone de.....only my buddy jio me then i go.

There are many similar cases happens during all this years when I am cheoging btm. Whether it is happening to my friends or heard from the cwks.... I myself also kena, even I can speak bahasa indo. Either they will chop u or rob you if there is an opportunity to get you and get away with it. So be careful!!!

As I have said before, the taxi supirs will chop u when you are least expected it. Don’t believe they are really nice to you. They are always expecting something in return from you. Still don’t believe………. Keep cheonging and 1 day u will know.

many years ago, i heard there was a cewe abducted by a psycho taxi driver who brought her to an isolated house and raped for three days...
best, not to take taxi at night, esp alone....ojek is safer.....
