Liverpool 'keeper Loris Karius faces 10 weeks out with broken hand

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius will be out for between eight and 10 weeks with a broken hand, Press Association Sport understands.

The £4.7m summer signing from Mainz sustained the injury in a clash with his own defender Dejan Lovren, defending a corner in Wednesday's defeat to Chelsea in Pasadena.


Liverpool's Marko Grujic learns head injury is not serious

Liverpool have received a boost after it emerged the head injury suffered by Marko Grujic against Chelsea is not serious.

The 20-year-old had to go off at half-time during the 1-0 International Champions Cup defeat to Chelsea in California on Thursday, after colliding with Blues defender Bertrand Traore and was consequently taken to a hospital in Pasadena.

Alex may be old but he has tons of experience and more importantly, knows how to control his 6-yard box..... unlike Mignolet who always kalang kabut whenever high crosses come in.

Ironically the old chaps who Klopp recently signed like Manninger and Ragnar Klavan may turn out to be astute signings. Apparently Klavan had a very good game against Chelsea.

Btw just read that Balotelli may now be heading for Ajax after a possible move to Napoli fell through.

- Liverpool's new signing was in-line to start against Arsenal
- But German goalkeeper will now miss the start of the season
- Karius has flown home and needs surgery on broken hand
- Karius will also miss games against Leicester, Chelsea, Tottenham and most likely Manchester United

Jurgen Klopp is confident of challenging for the title next season.
He proclaimed "This is my team now. I do not have any players that I do not want to play. There is something special about this group of players. I feel it and I am confident this group can challenge for the title."

I hope he is right.

The most important question that needs to be answered is whether Klopp has or shall find a balanced first XI(together with suitable replacements for injuries/suspensions) by the start of the season. If yes, then I think Liverpool have a good chance to push for top 4 at the very least.

Ah Gong believes that this new season is the beginning of Klopp's era . Another period of transition . New players come in need time to adjust to the new environment. What Klopp is doing is right . Building team spirit . What Liverpool and Klopp need to do is :

1) Consistency .

2) Winning mentality

3) Have a tight defense .

4) Make Anfield a fortress once again

5) Pick up as many points as soon possible

6) Try to win the domestic cups competitions .

Saw Liverpool beat AC 2-0 this morning.
Quite a good performance.
Think we still need a marquee stiker who can bag 20 goals a season.
Origi is quite good but he's not there yet.
