Golden Bird is also a KTV where u can go there to sing song if u like. Golden Bird KTV is also a fish tank place with KTV,one of batam biggest overnight gal booking place.

After u read my post and still want apartment,i can only recommend u best batam service apartment call Bali Hotel. It used to be a hotel but convert to service apartment. I don't knw the pricing nw but i know last time their hotel rm price abt lesser than S$20 per night,so i think their rm price now shld not be too ex. Reason y this hotel is gd cos directly opp got 2 booking place with fish tank & many girls name MM massage & Indah2. It is also 5mins walk to Morena29,one of batam overnight booking joint with the most number of syt.

Remember,if u stay near overnight girl booking place,u also save on taxi fare plus taxi driver no chance to collect commission from the Boss of the place where u book yr girl,so u pay less for each girl. 1 stone kill many birds. i still recommend u my no.1 choice call Hotel Sinar Bulan,my no.2 choice for u is Batam star hotel.

I am back. I found in my room of Formosa the "secret" place of Nono where he hides the money... But it's empty. He did not forget to take everything out.
I will use the safety box. Have fun all.
PS: I am just back from KL, where I did incredible things with and without my chinese hot gf. For the first time, I will miss another place while in Batam...

BTW, these shops prices comparable to SG or cheaper? Saw same accessories but didnt ask the prices, as almost all are MIC items same same SG sim lim ah neh shops... hp I didnt enquire as they are also older models.. some very old too..

i believe most who travelled to Batam on a regular basis has got their own little secret/s after some time. I have my own too. Not that i didnt share it before but not everyone will REALLY carefully read and notice it in my summaries (its all in there),hehehe...better stay low profile,otherwise these "good" places will one day be overwhelmed and the market spoilt. I remember a bro ever says in this forum, "Sharing is Caring,but indiscreet sharing can be Scary".

One of the good things about writing summaries (long ones) on my trips is i dare say i with-hold no secret from anyone reading it, yet i can camouflage those "good" places i wish for it to be lesser-known with words so practically nobody will bother to visit those places,hehehe....and i didnt need to write a bad review of that place.

Actually i had an impulse to try to correct bro iicycold this morning,but change my mind later. Reason is he isnt wrong in what he says and i have no rights to correct someone trying to teach another person a lesson who has chosen to question before reading.

Lesson i learned is,not everything shared on the internet world is true and always do my homework before i travel. Honestly, i would love to see an FR on that place next month too.

After check in,check with the Receptionist regarding booking taxi for the whole day,but dont book 1st just get their pricing. Tell them you will come back later.

Walk out of the hotel front door,you will be approach by taxi drivers who will ask you if you need a taxi,check with them for the taxi prices (whole day) and then bargain from there. Fyi,most of them understand English and some even Chinese. Bargain the price to that was stated by bro Newyorker stated here.

Compare prices between receptionist and those quoted by taxi drivers from outside the hotel front door to get the "right pricing". There are no such thing as a reliable taxi driver (personal point of view). So, choose wisely.

If all else fail,look for the Hotel Bell Boy in red uniform. They are the key people that are at most time can make things work within the whole hotel. Dont forget to tip a little.

Sorry bro,water sport is relative quite a distance if you stay in Formosa and that is where you are currently nearer to most cheong places (Formosa Hotel). The only water sport i have is at the Formosa bath tub and with the girl of course...lol. (does that count?)

I read a few things which i think i might have read wrong. The link was mainly from 11 years ago and i read that overnight booking girls during that time in Batam was between 500k to 2 million? That is even more expensive then today, given the fact that exchange rate was 5700/SGD to 5900/SGD. (i did an exchange rate check online for 2004)

Hotel is a little lower in price as compare to today,roughly about 15% plus minus increase 11 years ago after offsetting the exchange rate difference. So the increase in Hotel price isnt really high as compare to today.

I learned from that thread that detailed Batam information comes with a price tag 11 years ago. 11 years ago,i pay about S$15 for my 8mb thumbdrive from Iomega which i still have it today. Today i dont see anyone willing to buy it at that price for a 8mb thumbdrive,hehehe...and obviously nobody sells it too...lol. What i am trying to say is,internet bandwidth is more expensive 11+ years ago,hehehe....

Money? Check the New Testament Bible provided on the PC desk drawer,there should be some small notes which i left it for the "hardworking" room service staffs if they happen to clean "my" desk well enough,hehehe....

The items you found stated above from MIC,80% of them cheaper than in Sim Lim Sq. You will still need to bargain for the BEST price. Just take note that some of these shops are "brother shops" like those Sim Lim Sq own by ah neh (in sillypore). Meaning they know their customers will compare prices from shop to shop ,and since rental is cheap the "same owner" will rent down a few shops selling the same thing but run by different people so they can monopolize a certain area to control their pricing and to keep ample stocks. (1 of Sim Lim Techniques)

Example :

Bro Lurpsexx is a Batam local businessman,he went to Nagoya Hill Mall basement to rent 5 to 6 shops within a radius of few shops apart,naming them as shop A,shop B,shop C,shop D,shop E,shop F and shop G. When nono1973 go to a shop at Nagoya Hill Mall to shop,he 1st step into shop A,bargain for a MIC phone from 1000 000 to 900 000. Shop A tells nono1973 that 900k is the best price,nono1973 dont believe,he went to the next shop,which is shop B,shopkeeper knows nono1973 just came from shop A,so he says he will give him at 850k for the same thing. Nono very happy thinking that by going to roam around more,he could get better deals,so he approach shop C but shop C says no and the final is 850k. Then nono visit shop D and later E,all saying same thing as shop C.

After walking and bargaining with so many shops,he was exhausted and finally reach F who gave him the BEST ever price 820k!! Nono w/o even thinking just grab,pay and go. So he happily goes back to Formosa hotel and on his way before he reach Formosa,he went into Lucky Plaza to check out whether if he gets a real deal at Nagoya Hill Mall. It was then he realise that from the 1st shop (in Lucky Plaza) that what he bought was actually retailing at 800k,and the shopkeeper to spite nono further says if he plan to get a 2nd set and from him,he can give him a discount to 700k,and that was before the bargaining starts. End up nono1973 goes back to room crying over kena chop ,knowing that if he were to buy another of the same thing,he could jolly well get it at least at 600k (or below) after bargaining.

In order to balance his proud ego of being kena chop an extra 200k+,he came to the Batam Info Thread which he often frequent to share his experience, telling everyone there truthfully that tho he overly pay for an MIC product by 200k+,he is very very HAPPY with his purchase blah blah blah....and if it were to happen again,he will still do the same thing (but in fact,his heart is bleeding,hehehe...).
