Gone were the days where all the tackle shops were congregated at Beach road and you can practically spend the whole afternoon there just browsing & replenishing (even tho it doesnt really needs replenishing but who can resists.....) your tackles

Even if you can find a boat willing to take you out, you will have problems mounting your rods as most of them dont even have a proper rod holder. & I dont really fancy holding on to the rod whole trip....

Fishing 103 - Rawai

Rawai or long line fishing is pretty straight forward: you have 100 to 1,000 hooks, along a longline. You can catch anything and everything, sometimes even a mermaid will get hooked. Longlining is a time tested method and it is sometimes compared to a gill net fishing

Fishing 104 - Bubu

Fish traps are easy and cheap to make. On the seabed either find natural rock formations or dive in to create a space for your fish trap to make it look like a natural home. Coral trouts love to hide among the rocks. Leave the bubu in the waters for a few days and come back to retrieve them using a grappling hook. If the fishes are juveniles, use a Vitagen straw n poke the air bladder from the fish asshole to keep the fish alive. These can be kept in a keep net till they grow to market size. It sounds a lot like grooming but that is another topic. Bubu allows us to sample the variety in the local waters, bait fish also can be used for your hook n line fishing

The Asian catfish or pangasius has masqueraded as many fishes. The Vietnamese catfish is farmed in the worse condition ever. So don’t buy fillets if they are labeled like Sutchi or basa. Not only is it not a good eating fish, eating it will give bad health or papaya breasts

thn hor, we all sport fisherman will go find their fad, sneakily fish those small bait fish from fad. also surrounding fad for bigger fish. . .haha

got fish, i dont mind holding on to rods. haha.. problem no hv.

even tried squid fishing in halong bay ( part of cruise activity ) also no hv.

not so easy to google. not much info on vn fishing.

also u gv me tht pond address, i try to map it, cant find. guess got to go down

The first time I saw it, was like decades ago on a dive trip to aur. Was so surprise, that those empty hooks ( not even sibiki with small little feather ) can hook up fishes.

So . . If u are a young handsome shiny hooks. Chances fish will come makan, even if there's no bait. Haha

Haha slight amendment here, they normally tie a marked floater to the surface as kinda difficult to locate them once its in the water even with a GPS so they can pull it up using the tied rope ,problem is those ulu locations the fishes tends to get stolen if it is not cleared frequently or even the whole bubu gone

Vitagen straw thru the asshole????? actually goot idea rather than poking the bladder directly as most people do
