Just got bak from HK not long ago, and thought that maybe i could share my experiences over here. Basically for me there isnt much to do other than shop and eat. Clubbing wise, i went to club PLAY which was still ok to me, however, a bottle of Moet costs around 300SGD, and i was like wow...HK stuff r sure ex haha..The ladies there were not really my type.

Night time i went around to recce for those buildings here and there, and still thought that fuji is still a better one, hop yee was not bad..just that the selection wasnt that much but the girls there were pretty though, some were.., wow. Quite alot of PRC, u could get them in sg as well, ultimately, it still depends on individual. Prices arnd 400-500HKD at these areas.

Thanks to this thread i had sourced out quite a chunk of info. Some locals there were like 'wow, first time here how did u noe of this place' haha.

Side track abit, for guys who enjoy foodies, i tried the famous Lung Keen Hin, i was quite disappointed as the food werent really up to my expectations. Could get better food worth the $$ elswhere.

Just a suggestion - but you guys in Hong Kong and surrounds right now should at least make some preparations - including your flight plans (most are already cancelled today and tomorrow ) as well as a bit of water and food provisions - especially if staying in higher floors; daya bay nuclear plant nearby is already being battened down and electricity cuts could easily happen.

People forget how bad typhoons can be as we've not had super strong ones hitting major population centers in decades.

Typhoon Usagi's wind speed will be similar to Typhoon Wanda' peak winds of 175 km/h (110 mph) in the South China Sea, and it made landfall on Hong Kong on September 1, 1962 producing gusts of 261 km/h (161 mph) which, in combination with a high storm surge, damaged thousands of huts and left 72,000 people homeless. Wanda left a total of 434 deaths, and it is estimated that an identical typhoon striking today would cause HK$2.6 billion ($335 million USD) in losses.

Note that all figures are only for Hong Kong! The rest of China is not included as the mainland was not even in people's consciousness back then!

And as it was, very fortunate for Hong Kong that Usagi took a more northerly path than forecast. Also for Shenzhen as it was forecast to directly hit the area between SZ and HKG approximately.

It made landfall at relatively less populated Shantou, GD and during its path through Guangdong and Guangxi provinces, its center had never been any closer than approximately 140 km away from Hong Kong.

Mercifully there was no direct hits of major population centers as by the time it traveled overland to more populated parts of Southern China, it's fury had already significantly died-down.
