Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

I think nothing beats the CL final against AC Milan.
Coming back from 3 nil down....
And that to me is magic...

Don't forget Liverpool finished 5th in the league that season

Things would have been so much different for Rafa if Liverpool managed to clinched their 6th CL title last season...

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

3 PLAYERS all linked with move to Anfield

Rafa keen on Rafinha

Seeing the way this Rafinha aka "Little Rafa" played against Porto and assist the only goal of the match with the value of 5million -- its a good rumour bargain...
Well, we used to talk about Alves..
but we all know the situation and the money Sevilla want for him...
this lad would be a fantastic buy...
Finnan is getting to his end, and Rafinha would bring us that so much needed pace on the sides..(Alvaro Arbeloa also can cover too)...haha

Well, this is still just a rumour but if this can go through I'll be really pleased.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr, Liverpool’s American owners, are preparing to signal the beginning of the end of their regime at Anfield by granting Dubai International Capital (DIC) permission to examine the club’s accounts with a view to making an official takeover bid next month.

Hicks has consistently claimed that he has no intention of selling his 50 per cent stake in the club, but, while he plans to retain some of his shares and some of his influence at Anfield for the immediate future, face-to-face discussions with DIC officials in Dubai and, more significantly, London last week have brought a deal closer.

Although a final agreement is understood to be some weeks away, with the Americans eager to maximise their profits after a turbulent 12 months in control, sources in the United States have indicated that they are ready to demonstrate their willingness to sell by granting a period of due diligence to DIC, the private-equity investment arm of the Dubai Government.

Gillett, whose involvement with the club is now minimal, is expected to be the first to sell his 50 per cent stake, possibly by the middle of next month. Hicks is likely to sell only part of his stake initially, leaving DIC in majority control of the club but retaining some interest and his place on the board, at least in the short term.

Hicks’s abrasive manner means that he is regarded as the most likely obstacle to any deal being completed, but discussions are said to be progressing “sensibly and professionally”, albeit slowly. Although Hicks could, in theory, buy Gillett’s stake in order to strengthen his own bargaining position, that is thought to be unlikely.

For now, no price has been agreed between DIC and either of the co-chairmen. The Americans, whose initial takeover just over 12 months ago was valued at £218.9 million, now put the club’s worth at more than £400 million, but £350 million of that figure would be swallowed by the debts incurred as a result of their recent refinancing deal. DIC would be reluctant to meet that valuation if, as remains the case, Liverpool are in danger of missing out on qualification for next season’s Champions League and the associated riches.

So fellow reds bros, the stat that i show above hopefully can give at lease some hints on the "progress",trend and the direction our club are heading to..might be not very complete, perhaps some mistakes even:so pls do let me know if there is any..sorry for that.

If my boss never kajiau me,i will try my very best to dig out even more towards the end of the season eg:manager salary, money spend on players, their training programm, youth development ect..Hopefully by than, all of us here are truely ready 4 the democracy process wherether the current result consider resonable

Finally regarding why Sir Alex was given 6 seasons to bring the league champion to old trafford without being sack, long story...but i try to make it short:

1)His Qualification
From early 60s-90s,almost all the managers in the top teams are doing badgeless coaching,eg:Bill Shankly,Matt Busby,Brain Clough,Delglish,Jock Stein..ok,this person must take note yah..if i've not mistaken,he won 9 scottish premire 4 celtic and most important of all,he is the 1st British manager to win the european cup for Great britain..celtic is the team beating Inter Milan in19....67..yes..score i think should be 2-1.So lets move back to Fergie..his vesion really determine his success in many years to come,he already start going to coaching school while he is still a player in Dunfermline when he was only 22 in 1964,every summer without fail until he obtain the highest qualification in late 90s,which is diploma cert..requirment,10 years of coaching experience in top team.So when the scum sign him,and show patience to him,cos they need his experiences most importantly,HIS PAPER cos they understand thing changes very fast in football..they won't and cant afford to sack him.Recently when he was ask by media abt this,he answered,"this is a generation thing"..Now,almost every managers in BPL have the pro licence,no more special already!!but he already move far far ahead!!

2)Besides my 1st reason, there is another posibility which directly linked to 2 most important person in his soccer life
A)Sir Jock Stein, cos he learned lots of things from this man when he was his asst in scottish national team in 1984.1st,he already equip with paper knowladge and club experience,Aberdeen in particular. 2nd during the time when he was with this master, there is when he started to learned how to make the club management follow his waylike that also can!!
B)He join the scum right after maxico world cup in 1986.During the period from 86 till he won his 1st League champion for scum in 1993,he got the full support and backing from the most influential figure in the scums dressing room..infact should be England dressing room..none other than Mr Bryan Robson.I can still clearly remember in the mid 80s i always buy shoot magazine to read cos no new paper,no internet..Every 2 weeks when i read Bryan Robson column, the content will be..how great is fergie...how great is utd..we are in the right track under fergie!!week in week out never change one!!!No european football also never mind.. he still want to stay with scum because of fergie...I cant deny the fact there is speculation regarding fergie future, and this Mr Robson also came out words to counter the speculation..
So Reds Bros here, let see how our captain gerrard back his gaffer come end of the season

Sorry to bros that feel uncomfortable cos im writing about fergie and scums, besides this is a Liverpool thread. But hope all of u can understand that inorder to beat them,we must know them well in the 1st place
..

Well done bro . But the question is now are we better now compare to the old regime ? If Rafa were given 1 more year? Would we see success? Now that Everton is in 4th spot?

If DIC were given the chance to look at the books, looks like they are seriously planning to invest in LFC . They should also be able to understand what a rich tradition and culture we have. It will spell good for Liverpool as they will bring with them a whole wealth of funds. Which I would say the Yanks seemed to be lacking.

Thanks for the stats bro. If I'm not wrong, Rafa also has a higher winning percentage than Paisley and Shankly.

But of course, managers are not sacked or given an extended contract based on statistics. There are still fans today who strongly believe that Houllier should not have been sacked, and the same argument applies to Rafa today - that they have already done so much in a short time that they should be given more time.

Of course Rafa has another problem - the bosses don't like him. Yet the Yanks' position is also weak atm with the fans so Rafa is likely to remain for at least one more season.

Another change you didn't mention from the 80s is that the managerial culture has totally changed (and not just in Britain). Football club owners and boards are now no longer willing to give their managers time, and that is partly because of the increased fan base, with the higher expectations and revenues involved.

So it's a big circle in the end. What is said in the boards like this will have its effect on whether Rafa stays or not.

In short, the issue is political. It's not a matter purely for science or statistics. Every manager in the BPL save Wenger and Fergie is living on borrowed time, no matter how successful they were with other clubs or the same club in the past. The time of Fergie is over.

Bro,

thanks for that wealth of info!
you read fergie's memoirs? i read it sometime back, find it quite interesting and parts of it funny. i think fergie is successful cause he understands how the modern game is played, and despite many labelling him as belonging to the old school, i find that he in fact is veri adaptable with regards to tactics and how he treats his players.

No problem bros,u are all welcome,im just doing a little favor for this threat..And i will remain committed by presenting stats and info within the best of my ability so that all bros here can discuss and dabete but at the end of the day there is only 1 winner which is non other then Liverpool Fc...

To begin, let me once again show the stats of some of our managers in yesteryears in league game basis and also the reason behind the sacking of Graeme Souness and Gerard Houllier..

Bill Shankly..The Greatest (58-74)
Game 504 (Starting from the Old 1st division)
Win 238 (51.6%)
Draw 129 (25.6%)
Loss 115 (22.8%)
+158Goals (+13.2 Goals/season)

Bob Paisley..The Most Successful (74-83)
Games 378
Win 212 (56.1%)
Loss 99 (26.2%)
Draw 67 (17.7%)
+354Goals (+39.3 Goals/season)

The sacking of 2 of our managers!!
But 1st let us look at the link led to their sacking compare to some of our other managers:

Bill Shankly----The Greatest----Retired

Bob Paisley----Most Successfull----Retired

Joe Fagan----2 seasons of good run----Announce retirement just hours before heysel disaster??

Kenny Dalglish----consider successful----Resigned as the result of over stress

Graeme Souness----Bad result----HEART ATTACK----SACK

Roy Evans----Not good enough----Unhappy being co-manage with GH----Resigned

Gerard Houllier----Won treble follow by bad result----HEART ATTACK----SACK

So bros here, from the list of our manager u see above there are something in common that we can group them into the following pattens

Successful=Retire
Unhappy or Stress=Resign
Heart Attack=SACK!!

So i've got a question maybe bros here can share with me ur view..The sacking of Souness and Houllier is more because of performance or because of health problem(2 of them refuse to step down)??so....regarding Rafa...emm...result not really up to expectation..abit unhappy...looks stress...wats next??Pardon me if my question sound stupid or naive

Souness was sacked cos he was an inept manager, not cos of health.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

after Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley, the next good and successful manager is one of our own great - Kenny Dalglish.
remember he got us the Double - Championship and FA Cup for the first time.
really too bad that the stress got to him else he will surely lead us to more successes.

For Rafa hmmm ... well we can only wait and see. I hope for Liverpool's sake we continue our winning ways in these last few games. Every point counts for that all important 4th spot. I hope our lads will not be bothered by anything outsde the game and just conentrate on their game. Let the results speak for itself.
