Spearmint Rhino bar is no more...... closed down by the owner himself who is giving up his businesses in AC and moving over to Subic.

It was not so long ago that Ray Kelly was the envy of many with his empire of more than 20 bars including popular ones such as Coyote Ugly, Golden Nile, Blue Nile, Eager Beaver, Spearmint Rhino...... how times have changed that he has to give up on his last remaining bar.

It is really a sad day for AC if one of its Big Boys has to throw in the towel.
I heard from the mamasan of Spearmint Rhino that for the last week before they closed they had only ONE customer for the entire week. She and her 12 dancers decided to move to another bar and that's when the owner called it a day.

I personally believe the Disneyland playground of AC is coming to an end as there were many other empty bars around. It is just a matter of how the owner can afford to bear the losses before he decides to close shop.

Mayor, can you shed some light as to why there are many bars close shop ?

I think the Philippines government is trying to clean up the country's image as a sex tourism destination.
But with so many girls depending on sex trades for a living, I think more girls will be "export" overseas as I am seeing our local bars & KTV being "stocked" with more "Aroyos" than normal and the price has also come down somewhat to near or on par with "Waties" rates.
Even price for Chinadolls have come down quite substantially from the RM1k overnight charges.

I think there will be or already a a glut in the market and we will no longer have to make "short business trips" to the Philippines.

For verities, I am considering foraging into the Cambodian and Vietnamese for my "short business trips"

RK backed the wrong horse. He shouldn't have gotten involved with the politics in the first place. His business grew when his "horse" was in power but when the new Mayor took over, RK businesses were the first ones to be targeted for the extortion scams. He just did not have deep enough pockets to survive the raids.

We wish him well in his future endeavours after AC.

Why do you assume that this John Chan is a Singaporean?
If he is who I think he is....... he should be a Taiwanese..... or maybe even a mainlander. He is definitely not a Singaporean guy.

I believe it is related to money laundering / internet fraud...... this guy is redflagged by Interpol and PI finest recently busted their syndicate with intel supplied by Interpol making over 175 arrests in Manila and other PI cities..... but somehow they manage to let this guy slip the dragnet..... lol

Chan is a common surname amongst the Chinese.
John is also a very common name.
Just based on the listed telephone directory of Singapore, there are more than a hundred John Chans
