Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

really hope either the Dubai Consortium or ShareLiverpoolFC succeed.
it will be good for the club to have someone who has the interest of the club to take control.
this way,we will surely move forward.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

TORRES: I LOVE IT AT ANFIELD

Fernando Torres has spoken about his affection for Liverpool FC and said he wants to stay at the club for many years to come.
El Nino, who is preparing for Euro 2008 with Spain, was a record breaker in his debut season at Anfield when he beat Ruud van Nistelrooy's scoring record. His strike at Tottenham on the final day of the season saw the Spanish star become the most prolific foreigner ever in a debut season with 24 Premier League goals.

Earlier this week Rafael Benitez laughed off suggestions linking his star striker with a move away from Anfield and said the player is simply not for sale.

"It is an honour to be linked to clubs like Barcelona, Chelsea, or Arsenal, but I am not thinking about a change and I want to continue playing for Liverpool for many years to come," said Torres.

Reflecting on his debut season at Anfield the Reds number nine said things couldn't have gone any better for him.

"It's been quite easy for me," he added. "I have been able to enjoy every minute at a club where things have gone well.

"I have been part of a team where every player shares the same goals and where a player can rely on the support of his team-mates.

"I have also worked with a manager who believed in me. It was the combination of all these factors.

2 me,the equation is veri straight 4ward here.
Irregardless of hw much affection Fernando Torres has spoken abt tis club,it seems 2 me that he came here becos of Rafael Benitez.
If Rafa is around,i m quite sure that Rafa will try all means 2 hold onto him.
Likewise 4 Torres,he would want 2 work with a manager fr spain as well.
I still think that the americans doesn't fit into the equation here.
Bring on the $$ fr DIC.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) -Netherlands winger Ryan Babel is out of the European Championship after injuring his ankle in training on Saturday morning.

Babel tore ankle ligaments and a scan showed that the injury will sideline the 21-year-old player for several weeks, the Dutch soccer association said.

Coach Marco van Basten did not immediately announce a replacement.

The injury came a day before the Netherlands plays Wales in its last friendly match before the European Championship.

Van Basten's team plays world champion Italy on June 9 in Berne to open its Euro 2008 campaign. It also plays World Cup runner up France and Romania in what is considered the toughest qualifying group at the tournament.

Many of us are looking forward to seeing him play in Euro 2008,doubt Van Basten will play him in the starting 11 though. Wish him speedy recovery & hopefully he is fit for the new season.

Depressing news indeed. I just hope he can be fit for the start of the new season for us. We will need to play in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League again so our season will start early. With us losing players to the Olympics, we need every player we can get.

I agree he may not be in the starting 11, just look at the names in the Dutch squad. Amazing. Even if he appears as a sub, the experience will help him grow as a mature player. I think Babel can be a very good player for us. The ankle injury is just plain bad luck.

It's 2.6854 according to MAS's website. So it's around $13,427 before transfer fees. I'm sure Western Union will charge some fees if you remit money to UK. You get voting rights I believe. Not sure if they will declare dividends but given UK's tax structures...

I think a lot of those who signed up are motivated by replacing the shitty americans and not profits. Their style of washing linen in public hurts a lot of fans.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

glad to hear that Torres is very happy at Anfiled.
sad to hear that Babel will be out for several weeks.
oh yeah, hope he recovers in time when we start our qualifying for the CL.

we need to sign some new players to cover each section - defend, midfield and attack.

Ribery? That would be an exciting world class recruitment. Ribery on left wing, Joquim on right wing... Gerrard and Macherano in the middle.

Hopefully so if that is true. So far very quiet on the transfer market. Think everyone is waiting for the Euro Championship to concluded then look for suitable targets.

I think it could also be a situation where the targets dun want transfer dealings to distract them from Euro2008. Like Ronaldo, he only want to think of Real Madrid after Euro 08. Let's hope Rafa gets the $$$ he needs.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Liverpool close to £7m deal for Inter's Dossena

Liverpool are on the brink of completing the £7million signing of Italian full-back Andrea Dossena.

The 26-year-old is believed to be on Merseyside today having a medical ahead of a proposed move from Udinese.

The proximity of the deal has been confirmed by the player's agent, Federico Pastorello, who has been quoted in the Italian media today saying: 'Everything is confirmed and we have already exchanged documents via fax. The deal is practically done.'

Dossena is getting married at the weekend, but both club and player want the medical concluded and the final details of the deal settled before then.

Initially, Udinese wanted £8million for the player, but a compromise has been reached and, subject to the medical, Dossena will become Liverpool's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Swiss right-back Philipp Degen.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will fund the move by selling John Arne Riise, with Roma now the favourites to sign the Norwegian.

Benitez will then move to try to complete the signing of Gareth Barry, with an increased offer having been made to Aston Villa that could mean the midfielder costing upwards of £15million. Peter Crouch could be used as part-exchange in the deal.

The Anfield chief is also considering formally entering the race to sign Cardiff's 17-year-old midfield star Aaron Ramsey.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Everton - who made a £5million bid last night - have all been given permission to talk to the Welsh youngster, who became the youngest player to appear in an FA Cup final at Wembley last month.

Liverpool made one initial inquiry but believed a deal with Manchester United was almost complete. However, it seems there is now some doubt over that, with Cardiff willing to allow the Premier League clubs to out-bid each other.

Liverpool could offer winger Paul Anderson and striker Adam Hammill as loan players to Cardiff for next season.

Anderson helped Swansea win promotion last season on a 12-month loan, and could now find himself offered to their bitter south Wales rivals for the next campaign.

Re: who is Andrea Dossena

Statistics

Name: Andrea Dossena

DOB: September 11th 1981

Height: 1.85m

Weight: 74kg

Position: Defender

Current Club: Udinese Calcio 1896

~~Early Years~~
Andrea Dossena was born in Lodi, a small town in the region of Lombardy- home to both Inter and Milan. He began his football career with Hellas Verona and he quickly moved up into the club's youth system after showing incredible talent at a young age. In 2001 he left the youth team and made the step up to the senior squad under Alberto Malesani's tutelage.

Dossena made his Serie A debut on November 18 2001 and he was thrown in at the deep end as his first appearance was against bitter rivals Chievo in the Derby di Verona and he played alongside emerging talents such as Mauro Camoranesi, Alberto Gilardino, Massimo Oddo, Marco Cassetti and Adrian Mutu. He was quick to adapt within a side boasting plenty of youth and brilliant talent with massive potential.

~~Onwards And Upwards~~
Dossena spent four years with the Gialloblu but in 2002 his side were relegated to Serie B following a last day defeat to Piacenza. It was a steep learning curb for the player but he kept his place in the side and decided to stay where as most of his team mates jumped ship. It was a wise decision which paid off in 2005 when he was signed by Serie A outfit Udinese. Fiery character Serse Cosmi, who coached the left-back at the time, decided his left back was surplus to requirements at the Stadio Friuli and he sent him on loan to Treviso. Dossena made 21 first team appearances for the Biancocelesti but he couldn't stop them sliding into Serie B. At the end of the 2005/06 season, the stopper was recalled back to the Bianconeri by Giovanni Galeone.

The stopper went on to feature 28 times for the Zebrette and he was soon to be reunited with his old coach from Verona. Galleone was sacked by the Stadio Fruili based outfit after falling out with the club's directors. Alberto Malesani, who played a big part in Dossena's early career at the Gialloblu, was reunited with his former Verona star. Rise To Fame In just two years, the powerful defender has made massive strides towards a rewarding career. He has played 63 times for Udinese and this season he has impressed in Serie A. His performances against the top four clubs in particular were outstanding. He kept the Nerazzurri's star studied line up quiet in the 0-0 draw back in January.

Dosena marked Zlatan Ibrahimovic out of the game as his side stole a valueable point against the league leaders. The left-back was dangerous all night and his constant runs and dangerous crosses from the wings caused the Nerazzurri problems. The Udinese number 8 also gave his side a shock lead against Juventus but they went on to lose the game 2-1. The defender's work at the back helped his side earn a very respectable sixth place finish which rewarded them with a UEFA Cup place. However, the former Verona man might not feature in the competition.

~~Anfield Awaits~~
The Italian stopper has the chance to play in the Champions League next term with Liverpool who are on the verge of signing their target. Rafa Benitez has been impressed by the Bianconero and the Reds are focused on taking the rising star to Anfield as a replacement for John Arne Riise. Dossena has similar qualities to the Norwegian but he is more graceful on the ball and has a sweeter first touch. He is also excellent in the air and has a commanding presence at the back. His current coach Pasquale Marino has revealed that the player will move to Liverpool. It is believed the Reds are close to signing the defender from Lodi for around £8m. The future is looking bright for the stopper and no doubt he will impress wherever he ends up playing.

Re: who is Andrea Dossena

Thanks Bro AndySiao. Dossena is a gamble but also an opportunity with much potential. It's about time we change our leftback position which has been Riise's for so long (I like Riise and can see his contribution but we need someone else now who fits better into Rafa's plan).
