Re: Tieng Viet lovers club
Only businessmen can afford tickets for Tet flights
================================================== = VietNamNet Bridge – The national air carrier Vietnam Airlines has announced it plans to launch tens of thousands air tickets into the market. However, booking agents say they still have not seen the tickets. Earlier this month Vietnam Airlines announced that it will provide 11,000 more tickets for Tet flights in the first stage. However, booking agents have affirmed that no air route has seen additional flights. Nhung, the owner of a booking agent in Tan Binh District in HCM City, said that she has been “hunting” for air tickets since the beginning of the month, but unsuccessfully. The flights on HCM City – Hanoi route which will take off after January 24, 2011 (or December 21 of the Lunar Year) all have run out of economy tickets, and only business class tickets are left. to book business class tickets, one has to pay 3,350,000 dong . As for the Hanoi – HCM City route, to book the flights after February 7, 2011 ( the fifth day of the new Lunar Year), one will also have to become businessmen. Nhung said that after Vietnam Airlines announced that it will launch more flights on Tet holiday, people call the booking agent regularly . A lot of passengers accept to pay 400,000-500,000 dong more . However, Nhung said the only thing she can do now is to book standby tickets. But now even standby tickets are not accepted on some air routes. “I have heard that by the end of this year, Vietnam Airlines will announce another plan to launch more air tickets for Tet flights in the second stage. However, I still cannot understand why I cannot purchase any tickets in the first stage,” Nhung complained. Nhung said that at the same time in 2009, economy class tickets also ran out. However, in the days just before Tet (from December 27 Lunar Year), tickets unexpectedly appeared on the market in big quantity. Nhung thinks that the scenario would repeat this year, and she has advised passengers to wait . However, as this is not certain, no passenger wants to wait, and they want immediate bookings. As for HCM City - Da Nang route, passengers who want to fly from January 27, 2011 to February 2, 2011 (24-30 December of Lunar Year) now also only have business class tickets to buy. Of course, business tickets are much more expensive than economy tickets. In order to have a business ticket, one will have to pay 2,100,000 dong, while economy ticket.only costs 600,000 dong Similarly, on the reverse route, if passengers want to fly on February 6-13 with Vietnam Airlines, they also have to buy business class tickets. Vietnam Airlines said it would offer more seats, about 3200 seats per day per route, an increase of 28 percent over the previous Tet and an increase of 44 percent in comparison with normal days. On peak days, the number of seats to be provided may reach 4000 seats per day, or double that of normal days. However, to date, the demand has still been far exceeding the supply. Meanwhile, talking with Sai gon Tiep Thi on November 25, a representative from Vietnam Airlines said that the air tickets on additional flights have been selling since the beginning of the month. However, even the additional tickets cannot meet the demand, because of the overly high number of passengers who have booked standby tickets. However, many booking agents said that they do not know that tickets have been sold. some agents even think the sale of additional tickets will only begin at the end of the month. The budget airline Jetstar Pacific has also reportedly sold all the tickets for the flights from December 22 of Lunar Year to Tet. As for Air Mekong, all the economy class tickets for HCM City – Hanoi flights on the days just before Tet have also been sold. However, the airline still has a lot of Full Deluxe class tickets to offer which are priced at 2,845,000 dong . Truong Thanh Vu, Commercial and Service Director of Air Mekong, said that the airline will increase the transport capacity by 20 percent on Tet, raising the total number of seats to 3200 per day. P. Thought I could contribute a bit....
http://www.todayonline.com/World/Wor...n-to-Singapore Four Vietnamese jailed for trafficking women to Singapore A court in southern Vietnam has sentenced four people to up to eight years in prison for trafficking women to work as prostitutes in Singapore. Court official Pham Thi Ha said yesterday that ring leader Vo Thi Hiep was jailed for eight years for human trafficking and three others received three to six years behind bars on the same charges following Monday's trial in Tay Ninh province. Ms Pham added that the ring was convicted of selling 10 Vietnamese women to a Singapore brothel for US$50 ($65) each between September last year and February. The victims had been promised jobs at restaurants. One trafficked woman refused to work in the brothel and arranged for her family to buy her freedom for US$900. She then reported the ring to police. And so I took my luggage, hailed a taxi and paid the fare with midnight charges, only to find out that the flight was cancelled, along with hoardes of angry passengers with their luggage and children in tow. At that time, I thought what irony and that it was the biggest joke with that statement from Tiger. Tiger is becoming an embarrassement to Singapore Airlines, the Transport Ministry and the Singapore Government. Whatever happened to the efficiency, punctuality and basic courtesy that I've come to expect in this country. Or am I just a typical Singaporean who only knows how to complain??!! |

As you had mentioned in your last paragraph...Tiger cannot keep embarrassing SIA and Singapore Government...you knew the BIG BOSS will not allow it to happen anymore... BTW, my last trip last month, Tiger used a brand new Airbus A320 for my return flight and sure enuff the flight was not only on time but reached ahead of schedule and flight time was only 1hour 30minutes...that's impressive...

For those who been to Dalat, do you know that .....
Lam Dong Province promoting tea culture ================================================== ==== The central highland province of Lam Dong is regarded as the center of the largest Tea material region in the country. Its weather conditions and soil quality are suitable for tea planting. Cau Dat, in Truong Tho Hamlet, Xuan Truong Commune, 30 kilometers from the city’s center of Da Lat, was where the French first brought fragrant tea trees in 1927 and officially established the Cau Dat Service of Tea. Cau Dat has been the cradle of the Lam Dong tea region for 80 years. Then tea growing areas expanded to districts including Bao Loc, Bao Lam, Di Linh and Da Lat City. The province has increased its tea area from 250 hectares to 300 hectares every year in the 2004-2010 period. Currently, Lam Dong Province grows about 24,000 hectares of many tea varieties, with more than 30 local and foreign enterprises growing, purchasing and processing tea products. So far, 20 businesses have been licensed VietGAP (Vietnamese Agriculture Practices) Certificate for their safe and high quality products. Entrepreneurs have supported growers to apply high technologies in planting and processing tea. The cooperation will create a stable material source for companies, increase the income of farmers and develop the tea industry of the largest tea garden of Vietnam.

Re: Tieng Viet lovers club
No wonder we see many "farmers" around JC/GL
Rice farmers becoming poorer, say experts ================================================== Rice growers are becoming much poorer, said several experts at a seminar entitled “Vietnamese agriculture - effectiveness and sustainability,” which was held by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Can Tho City People’s Committee on Tuesday. Experts at the seminar said that this has been caused by the high expenditure for family and production and by degenerated soil. Dr. Le Van Banh, head of the Mekong Delta Rice Institute, said, “In addition, low prices and fluctuating market trends, have made farmers more in need of government assistance, as they have not being able to regulate the price of rice." According to the Mekong Delta Development Research Institute, agricultural output and exports have risen sharply, but this has not help farmers increase their level of income. The difference between the rich and the poor, and the urban and rural areas has become wider in recent years. The Mekong Delta annually contributes 90 percent of the country’s rice export volume. Re: Tieng Viet lovers club
New Biz idea??
Hiring marriage portion ================================ VietNamNet Bridge – With only VND2 million ($100), Lan made her parents happy as they could hold a big gold necklace to put on their daughter’s neck at her wedding anniversary. As the price for gold is escalating in Vietnam, Lan said her parents couldn’t afford to give gold as her marriage portion as tradition. She decided to hire the gold necklace from a jewelry shop. Hong, a worker, from Lac Trung Street, Hanoi, who is about to get married, told VietNamNet that she and her fiancé thought very carefully and decided to buy a pair of wedding rings and hire a gold necklace and a gold bracelet as marriage portions of the two families. “We have to buy the wedding rings, otherwise we would have nothing to exchange at the wedding anniversary,” Hong said. Hong and Lan are among many young people who went to jewelry shops in Hanoi to hire wedding jewelry. This year, this service has been booming. A staff at a jewelry shop in Tran Khat Chan Street, Hanoi, said since mid-October, when the gold price has been continuously increasing, hundreds of couples have hired jewelries at his shop He said the leasing prices range between VND500,000 and VND2 million for a set of, including a bracelet, a necklace and a pair of ear-rings, for 2-3 days. For this price parents can be happy for their daughters will not feel guilty because they can’t give their daughter gold as marriage portion on their most important days. The service has also gone online. Young couples can register to hire not only jewelry but also clothes and get other wedding services from online shops. However, things don’t always go smoothly. A family in Cau Giay district, Hanoi, hired a dozen of gold necklaces for their relatives to wear at their daughter’s wedding ceremony. However, the relatives who are old women from the rural areas thought that the necklaces are fake jewelry so after the wedding ceremony, they took off the necklaces and put them right on the tables. The bride’s mother burst into tears after the wedding because seven necklaces had disappeared, with the value equivalent to seven taels of gold. Thu Ly
