Hi Tim,
just looked at website for Town Lodge wherein stated
three kinds of rooms viz:
jacuzzi suite
vip rooms with bath
standard rooms
Does standard room have showers or bathtub?

Guidance although regular at Bkk last few years, this is the first time I am reading about Town Lodge and actually have never used your booking website before. But dont worry likely use u to try out next month after the reading the good reports I have been reading about you

Pretty much luck regarding rooms, like Majestic Suites. Some good, some old and dingy. Location great though. Must book ahead.

Town Lodge, opened less than 1 year and everything in top class condition. Have Wireless Lan, only 100 Baht/stay. Complimentary tuk tuk from the hotel to main road/BTS. Good value, small cosy hotel.

If you can. stay in at The Majestic Grande. The best value hotel in Bangkok.

Will get back about Pattaya on Monday.

Cheers

Hi Sin Loner,

Town Lodge is a great place to stay. 2 months ago, 100% farang place. Sonce then I have sent many samsters there. It is a very small hotel with nice modern rooms and not been open long. So it is very clean and unworn like some other places. Wi-Fi is 100 Baht/stay unlimited, which is a good deal.

3 types of room, standard, Deluxe and Jacuzzi.
Standard and Deluxe are the same but standard doesnt have a bathtub, but have shower. Deluxe does. Only 3 Deluxe rooms, so they dont give to us. Jacuzzi are nice rooms. However for that price per night, sure you may be disappointed as it is quite expensive.

I doubt you will find a better place around the 1080 Baht/night. They have a free tuk tuk service from the hotel to the BTS or end of Soi to the main road. They will even pick you up at the end of the soi on the way back too if u phone them.

If you want to spend around the 3000 Baht mark. Then there is no better place than The Majestic Grande. I guarantee it. Forget the prices on my website. We sell for;

Superior 2650 Baht/night.

Premier 2862 Baht/night.

Deluxe 3498 Baht/night.

Cheers

21Tom,

Palazzo is good choice if you would like to stay around Ratchada. How much is you budget? Advise and I will give some options.

Some comments about Town Lodge since I juz got back.

True to Tim's words, Rooms are nice with a cozy touch. Renovation given a homely touch and the laminated wood flooring does make it different from other hotels. Place is clean and even comes with DVD player.

Priced sightly over 1k is very affordable for most.

And now for the not so good... The hotel has no lift. Any lucky guy like me and my frend who are assigned 4th floor rooms (lucky bldg only got 4 floors) will have free exercise evday.

Service attitude. Service staff seemed to be at a loss. Not very friendly though in the land of smiles.

One off experience... Me and frend hooked up with some WLs and went partying. Came back to hotel with one of the WL driving. Due to lack of proper parking lot, no choice but to park @ roadside. Due to near drunk state and wee hours, did not notice that car was parked near entrance to another bldg.

Woke up next morning and found that tow truck was here to remove the WL's vehicle. Was put off by hotel staff's remarks and attitude. Not only they are not willing to help, they even stirred up sacarstic remarks @ the WL and tow truck ppl... All these happend right in front of me and frend, paying guests of the hotel.

We were quite pissed off at the attitude of the hotel staff, which continued even after the incident was settled. (We paid off the tow truck person)

Personally, I wun go bk to TownLodge. More becos of my experience over the tow truck saga. Admit that its our fault for indiscriminate parking, but the sacarsam and stirring from service staff were totally unnecessary.

Sorry Tim, if this seems like a complaint. I hope you will take this positively as a customer remark.

Bro,

I completely understand the report. So sorry about that. Such a shame as up to then, only good reports about this place. I will send this incident to the general manager for his information. He needs to know about his staff. I for one appreciate feedback good or bad. Clearly something needs to be done. Otherwise all the hard work seems to have gone to waste.

Wish I could have helped in regard to this incident.

Re: Hotels in Bangkok

hi,

i should be in Bangkok sometime from 7-11 August.

I'm looking for a hotel in the Ratchada Road area, near to transport (train etc to other parts pf the city for sightseeing/shopping). Budget wise about 1000-1500B per night. And of course, girl friendly.

Maybe a swimming pool would be good, but not essential.

Read about the Emerald Hotel and also the Palazzo, seems good- is it in the same region? i am not sure whether Ratchada and Ratchadapisek are the same roads.

Also got another question - if i book over the counter, how much different are the rates? I have the unfortunate privilege of not owning a credit card (thanks to my dear ex-gf who insisted i did not have one), so booking online is a problem.

thanks in advance

Bro,

Palazzo is guest friendly and Emerald is not. Both are on Ratchada road, within 150 meteres of each other. Emerald has a swimming pool and is more luxurious.

At the moment, dont think you will get a room over the counter. very busy and quite dangerous as many hotels are full, and you may not get a room anywhere. Suggest you borrow a mates card and book online in advance.

Cheers
