Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Hope no bros here will blast me but it seems like nobody gave Carra and Lucas credit...
Especially Lucas, who I felt was MOM along Carra... He never stop running, always tackling and never gave those shits anytime on the ball.. In fact he made a few intelligent run, just that he didnt finish them off... Why cant he just perform like that every week?! Anyway, I sure hope we really "turn the corner" this time round, built on this victory and maybe go on a run like 10 games winning streak?

I must give it to Torres - he has come back from injury before and been outmuscled by the defenders. Not this time, he pushed himself and was mentally strong as usual. It's clear Vidic can't handle him. I can't wait for the OT return heheh. Well, you know the reason why.... |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
The Torres gamble that paid off:
After the 2-0 win, Benitez said: ''In the morning I had decided that he would be involved, but I needed convincing he could start rather than just be a substitute. I talked with Fernando on the coach, and that was when I was really convinced that he could play. Playing Fernando was a difficult decision. He was not training, the same as Steven Gerrard. But after talking with him we decided it was better to start the game with him.'' Benitez decided it was better to begin the match with Torres short of fitness, rather than try to cope without him. ''You could see he was not 100% fit, but sometimes 80% of Fernando can make a difference,'' added the manager. ''We had to be very careful with him, that is why we took him off near the end. You have to take care of him. But we were waiting for that final pass and when it came we knew he would score.'' |

No that is his typical reaction every time the players scored a goal....maybe he should some enthusiasm to boost the players morale...by remaining aloof every time...it might deflate their morale...

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
what a bloody great game...best advertisement for the EPL and best advertisement for LiverpoolFC...i am more than happy to eat my words viz my criticism of Rafa...however only for this match...i still stand by what i said earlier...let us see how things pan out...but like i also said before, i truly hope to be proven wrong, so long as the Reds r successful...back to the match...
this was certainly a massive great victory over scum...more so since Fergie played his best/strongest XI agst a Liverpool team that did not include Gerrard n Acquilani(can't recall was Riera also injured?) n Torres/GJ were just back fm injury so probably not 100% fit... it was a true entire team effort fm Rafa down to all his players...the hunger, commitment n desire to win was there for all to see...special mentions must go out to Reina(safe pair of hands); Carragher(back to his best); Aurelio(class freekick);Agger (looks like he is getting stronger); Lucas(finally bossing the midfield, although he still lacks creativity); Mascherano(also bossing the midfield but must learn to keep cool);Kuyt(for giving 110% effort); Yossi(for his great creativity n passing); N'Gog(for keeping cool to score a goal that looked simple but in fact was quite difficult to score) n Torres(this chap is not only a world class striker - that goal of his was pure class - he also showed that he is a true team player by coming back to defend at times and went deep to get the ball as well)... Rafa was truly able to motivate his players this time ard and got his tactics right as well...the Reds effectively shut out scum's midfield n Reds defence was tight n solid...perhaps what is also telling is that Ferdinand,Vidic n Evra aren't that great...if i were Capello i wld be quite concerned because it wld appear that both his key England centre backs - Ferdinand n Terry r getting slow...also i think this match has shown that Manure may in fact miss Ronaldo more than what was previously tot...none of Manure's talent were able to conjure up any magic of significance... as for Fergie n his usual sour grapes rants n raves agst the Ref...i say look at Berba's rugby 'tackle' on Kuyt where he got away wif 'blue murder' n a piece of Kuyt's jersy...n Vidic's second yellow was indeed a yellow if not an automatic red...i mean was what was Vidic thinking, was this a rugby match?...oh and Carragher's foul on Owen was no red card, because there was another man on and in any event it looked more like a tussle between him n Owen... all in the Reds truly deserved their victory agst the current EPL champions...i hope they hv now truly turned the proverbial corner to go on a proper long run... btw i must say that i was quite pleased to see the true emotions of delight on Hicks n Gillett's faces when Torres scored n at the end when they both sang YNWA...but at the end of the day i still can't stand these 2 yanks and maintain that they must sell out asap...also enjoyed seeing the emotions on the faces of King Kenny, Gerrard n his chiobu wife Alex n Sammi Hyppia... i haven't sang YNWA wif such gusto at my usual watering hole in quite along while...v pleased indeed YNWA Last edited by omnia; 26-10-2009 at 04:15 PM. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
fair dues to Lucas this time rd...the lad did indeed give his all n more and made a true impact bossing the midfield together wif Mascherano, for once in a v long time...however Lucas still lacks creativity and his finishing is average as well...but the criticism sld be left for another day, so i shall say give Lucas a tiger

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
well to be fair to Rafa i don't think he is the type to get too emotional over goals...not like say Mourhino n Fergie...but then again not as dour as Sven...however i did notice that he jumped up and down when Yossi scored that v late last minute cracker at Craven Cottage last season when the Reds were smoking down Manure's back for the EPL title...while yrs truly got so excited that i knocked down my mate's pint of larger while screaming "goaaaaal..." like the way those south american footie commentators do

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
u know come to think of it...when Alonso scored the equaliser 3rd goal penalty rebound in Istanbul...i recall Andy Gray shouting his head off in his wee scottish accent n seeing the silhouette of Phil Thompson up in a box in the stadium jumping up n down but still not much of a reaction fm Rafa...that really appears to be his temperament...guess he leaves such things to Sammy Lee...
