Not necessary to get expat terms. Sometime if you know how to negotiatie and use the allowances (depending on how yr company tax advisor is) sometime you can get same or better take home than Singapore.

Cookiesmonster is correct! The higher your pay the higer your tax! There are ways around,allowance like housing and insurance are not taxable. So when u leave china, cancel your policy and get the money back.. I bet there are many ways around this to make it win win for both parties!

I was victim lately. Walking along outside of my hotel. Approached be a innocent looking girl asking if I want to go to an interesting place with pretty student girls. Told me max spending abt 800 RMB. She sold it well. I went ahead. Took a cab to an ulu place, went to the pub. Nobody there. Got me a room. Ladies come... Etc. Skip the details. When done with special service, came the bill. A guy came in, look like underworld person. Reveal price - 19000 RMB. I know I'm in deep shit. Can't run, cause I'm the only customer, I believe. Managed to drop to lower. No choice ending up paying - over 3 grand SGD. Swipe credit card then was let out. Very expensive experience for me.

Such incidents were never short of hearing. Not just in China, when cheonging, always cheong with care and caution. Just like any old trick, there's bound to be victims. Not that some of us are smarter, just that most of us were a little more careful when cheonging in a place that we are not familiar.

You could have notified the credit card company immediately that you lost your wallet in Shanghai, hence they will stop all transactions on your credit card. That's a $3k advice for you.

Go Nanjing lu then all Men become more yandao, sure lots of Meimeis approach asking for road direction and kopi sessions................was asked 8 times in an evening when I walk from one end to the other. Did not know that old man like me is so 'Yandao'......whahaha!
Even when I walk alone on Zhangyang lu also got Meimei approach me.
In conclusion, I think the most Yandao man in China is Chairman Mao.....all the Meimeis loved him!
