More than 230 Bishan Residents get Dengue Fever in Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC

admin / 2 days ago July 22, 2015

More than 230 Bishan Residents living along Bishan Street 22, 23, 24 and 25 have contacted dengue fever in the Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC. Residents living in this area said that they rarely heard of dengue cases in Bishan, but ever since the lift upgrading and repainting work were done in the estates, the number of mosquitoes multiplied fervently.

Some Bishan Residents blame clogged water points in the constituency led to the increase in mosquitoes breeding sites and the National Environment Agency has been inspecting the homes and also distributed insect repellent and granular insecticide to residents.

The PAP MPs in-charge of Bishan is Minister of State Josephine Teo and retired Minister Wong Kan Seng and they have been quiet on the dengue issue in their areas. A check with Josephine Teo’s Facebook page shows that she is apparently unaware of the dengue problems and what her Bishan residents are going through.
